This busy small town was a hamlet until the opening of Elstree station in 1868.
Today Borehamwood is also known for the part it played in the history of British films, with Elstree Film Studios being world famous.Aldenham Country Park nearby, consists of 175 acres of woodland and parkland set around a large reservoir. Attractions include a network of footpaths, Winnie-the-Pooh’s 100 Aker Wood, a rare breeds farm, lakeside and nature trail, children’s adventure play area and picnic site.
Borehamwood's modern town centre offers local shopping facilities. Borehamwood is also home to the BBC Newsroom South East and it is also the location of the famous EastEnders set. | | Directions | From M1 motorway leave M1 at junction 6A (M25) and follow signs for M25 Dartford Tunnel. From M25 motorway leave M25 at junction 23 (1) and follow signs towards A1 London South.
Approximately 2 miles south of M25, leave A1 at sign 'Arkley, Barnet & Borehamwood' following Shenley Road straight ahead, the hotel is immediately on the left, past Elstree Studio.
To access our car park, take the first turning on the left (Whitehouse Avenue) and the car park entrance is the first left. |
